Green compound is a versatile compound for use on steels and ferrous metal. If the piece is in reasonable condition, begin with the green on a sisal or stitched mop and then finish with blue compound. It is good used in the first stage for non-ferrous in poor condition with a stitched mop. The green compound is useful for rubbing onto a leather strop as honing compound.
Our compound bars are colour coded, making them immediately identifiable. Each one is a combination of a selected abrasive in a specific binder. Each colour has two reference numbers. The first denotes the 'Cut' or level of abrasiveness; the higher the number, the coarser the grit. The second number is the 'Colour' which relates to sheen; the higher the number, the shinier and glossier the result.
